Shaw Trust has been supporting the NHS with the recruitment of roles for the Covid-19 mass vaccination programme.
“The transition from being employed to unemployed was a very difficult one, especially in a pandemic. However, Dom has been a huge pillar of support throughout this difficult period. His guidance ensured I was able to complete every step of the job application process to the highest standards whilst helping me stay focused and motivated at all times. Due to Dom’s support throughout this process, I was able to secure a job with the NHS.”
Anjana had been made redundant from her previous role as a Receptionist and was referred to the Work and Health Programme to help build her confidence with interviews and ultimately find employment.
Anjana is a Psychology graduate who is currently studying for a Masters in Forensic Psychology, her long term career goal is to become a Forensic Psychologist for the Prison Service or charity sector.
With her long term career aspirations in mind she has also done volunteer work with MIND and Wormwood Scrubs Prison. Her Support Manager, Dom, felt this experience enhanced her CV and made her stand out to potential employers as it shows her willingness to stay active.
Together Anjana and Dom looked to build her confidence, especially when it came to interviews, and find a short term job while she continues with her Masters. Dom, helped her by reviewing her CV, completing job searches and also interview preparation.
Anjana secured a temporary Christmas role with the Royal Mail and built on this success by securing an Administration role with the NHS on the mass vaccination programme. As a result she feels more confident about her future job prospects.
“The tools Shaw trust have given me really gives me the confidence in my future job prospects. Initially, I was very anxious about attending interviews and wasn’t sure how to correctly fill out certain parts of the application properly. However, the support I have received enabled me to adopt the tools to address these issues and I look forward to utilising them in the future.”
Well done to both Anjana and Dom for their hard work in securing this fantastic result!
