On Monday 14 March, James Allen will join Shaw Trust in a newly created role as Director of Marketing and Communications, strengthening our central team. James’s extensive experience will enable us to implement our ambitious plans to improve Shaw Trust’s presence as one of the largest charities and most influential social enterprises operating in the UK.
James has worked widely across the charity and private sectors. He held senior roles at the housing and homelessness charity Shelter, most recently as Assistant Director for Marketing and Content, where he oversaw the redevelopment of the Shelter brand and led teams across the marketing, digital and creative spectrum.
Before moving to Shelter in 2013, he worked in the media for a number of national news organisations, both as a journalist and in business development and marketing roles. At the Financial Times, he focused on the growth of the brand and subscriber acquisition through emerging digital technologies.
James joins at an exciting time for Shaw Trust as we transition from a highly respected brand with commissioners, supporters, colleagues and participants, to a publicly recognised brand.
Speaking about James’s appointment, Scott Miller, Chief Corporate Officer, said: “James’s appointment recognises the importance Shaw Trust places on communicating our vision, mission and values to a wider world. James’s experience as a senior marketing leader will strengthen our existing team enabling us to promote and publicise the great work we do across the country.”
James commented: “I am delighted to be joining Shaw Trust at this pivotal time, and look forward to building on the work happening to increase brand awareness, influence and engagement.”
