In November 2020, Mehronisa was made redundant from her role in the travel industry- due to the pandemic. Living with long term health conditions, she was only able to work from home whilst the pandemic continued which limited her job opportunities.
Having been long term unemployed previously, Mehronisa lacked confidence and required support to improve her employability skills, especially with completing application forms, job searching skills and interview techniques.
With help from her support manager, they did daily job searching and submitted her CV for suitable roles.
Our team of expert volunteers offer a variety of workshops that Mehronisa attended. These included ‘steps into work’, ‘CV support’ and ‘interview preparation’. These gave her the confidence to increase the number of applications she was making and resulted in five job interviews!
Using the STAR technique she had been taught by the volunteers, Mehronisa excelled in her interview and was offered her ideal job – in the travel industry working from home!
Still receiving regular contact from Shaw Trust, she is progressing well in her role and said:
”I have been given a job offer today for 3 months, they want to discuss another role of Team Leader on Friday! I have accepted irrelevant of which role I accept, just relieved to get a job.
I cannot express my gratitude enough to the lovely Natasha, for all your support.
Nick, the courses have been great and helpful, especially the STAR technique, interview skills. Even when you’re both busy you have taken the time to speak to me which is much appreciated!
You both have been great.”
Congratulations Mehronisa, wishing you lots of luck in your new role.
