Before Christmas the Shaw Trust Foundation donated £70,000 to Shaw Education Trust.
The gift was distributed by Shaw Education Trust to individual schools based on pupil numbers of those eligible for free school meals.
Each school was able to decide how to allocate the gift to their families. For some it was food vouchers to ensure the family did not go hungry. For others it was ensuring every pupil, and even siblings of vulnerable families, received a Christmas present of their own to open.
Parents and pupils were touched by the donation and comments back have included:
“Thanks for my gifts they are great!” Pupil – St Andrew’s Academy
