We are pleased to announce that Work to Recovery has been awarded the new national Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Grow Quality Mark by IPS Grow and the Centre for Mental Health!

Work to Recovery Birmingham and Solihull is a free, voluntary service, commissioned by Birmingham and Solihull CCG which aims to support people with mental health conditions to find and sustain paid employment using the IPS model. Individual Placement and Support (IPS) offers intensive, individually tailored support to help people to choose and find the right job, with ongoing support for the employer and employee to help ensure the person keeps their job.

This recognition highlights the fantastic work Shaw Trust’s Health and Wellbeing division do to support our clients. The Work to Recovery service, works in partnership with Forward Thinking Birmingham and Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust and these results show the incredible partnership Shaw Trust has with these NHS Trusts. IPS Grow conducted a Fidelity Review in April to test the effectiveness of the delivery and how closely the contract follows the strict 25 point scale. Throughout the intensive two day process, interviews were held with clients, colleagues, employers and clinicians as well as a thorough check on the team’s administrative procedures and processes.

Adele Marshall, IPS Grow Lead, one of the team who conducted the review said: “The Work to Recovery teams have achieved some incredibly positive outcomes in the relatively short time they have been delivering IPS. There is a supportive leadership structure and a passionate and motivated staff team with good senior executive oversight and support from the host Trust which makes for a quality IPS service.”

Adrian Nesbitt, Team Leader said: “I am so proud that in the first year of delivery the Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB) IPS team achieved such a high score in the fidelity review and was awarded the IPS Grow Quality Mark. This is an amazing achievement and to receive the acknowledgement that the service they provide the clients day in, day out is of the highest standard is a true testament of the drive and passion they have for making a real difference in the lives of our clients.”

David Harper, Head of IPS for Shaw Trust said: “Being awarded the new IPS Grow Quality Mark, is incredible. I am so proud of the team for all their hard work since the service launched in April 2021. The team have helped so many individuals to achieve their goal of paid employment, and it is fantastic this hard work could be seen by the reviewers and the service has been recognised in this way. This result is a true testament and well deserved validation of the hard and excellent work of the team and the strength of our partnership with Forward Thinking Birmingham.”
